Different Techniques For Getting A Wine Bottle Open

without comments

Wine is sold in every country on the planet, and is a multi-million dollar industry. The popularity of wine led to a large number of different methods of opening a bottle to be developed. Screw tops are recent innovation and don’t require any tools to open, but there are still plenty of bottles with corks out there so lets take a look at the best ways to get to the good stuff.

Traditional Corkscrew – These have been around for a long time now and are still as effective as they ever were. Most people have some form of corkscrew in their home as part of a tableware sets, and if you know how to use one you can get a bottle of wine open in no time. You might struggle however if you lack elementary hand strength or finger control though.

Modern device – Advancements in technology have thrown up a number of different devices for making bottle opening a great deal easier. Some of these rely on advanced mechanics, like the winemaster corkscrew, which turn a straight forwards movement into a twisting one. There are also a whole host of electrical bottle corkers but these take all the fun out of it

Saber - If you are the adventurous kind or a bit of a show off then you can saber a bottle of wine open. During the Napoleonic era, victories were often celebrated with a champagne saberage. This basically involved taking the head of a champagne bottle cleanly and without shattering the glass. Just make sure there aren’t any crystal vases or bowls around when you swing that saber You also need soak the bottle neck in water first to expand the cork, then take the foil and wire off, before striking the top of the neck in a slicing motion, ideally way from you. Simple

All you need now is a couple of wine glasses and some good company, and you’re laughing

Wine Gift Baskets A Great Selection When In Doubt

without comments

Coming up with gift ideas can be a very frustrating thing that people must do from time to time. Many people are not able to think of what a person may want to receive as a gift, or you may be shopping for a person that has everything already. This can be one of the worst situations to be in when it comes to gift giving. A gourmet wine and cheese gift basket can relieve a person of this worry and be a very nice gift that most people would love to get.

When thinking of how to start with your gift wine baskets, think of the person that you are making it for and choose an appropriate bottle of wine for them and the occasion that the gift is for. Once this is done then choosing what you will use as a container would be the next thought that needs to be done. Ice buckets are a great option for this part of the gift.

Now you can continue the process of filling the ice bucket with other things that the person may like. Corkscrews are always something that can be used, as they are usually an item that is misplaced often in a person’s kitchen. What good is the wine if the person cannot get the bottle open?

Along with this you may think of adding some cheese as well. It has always been known to compliment wine nicely. Go look in a few specialty shops and see what ideas that they may have in regards to cheese and the wine that you have selected. Ask the people that work there what they think may work with this specific wine choice.

While looking around the specialty shop, take a look at the variety of crackers that are also available. They could be the perfect little extra that you can add to the basket. It is always a nice snack when you pair cheese and crackers with one another.

Is the gift to honour of an engagement or an anniversary of some sort? If this is the case then you may want to consider adding a cute set of wine glasses in the basket as well. This is gesture that will definitely go over well and the couple will have memories of your gift that will last them a lifetime as well.

There are so many great things that a person can do if they decide to use wine gift baskets instead of a conventional present. Let your brain wander and you would be amazed at some of the things that you can come up with. These are a great gift that can break up the monotony of the day as well as put a big smile on the recipients face.

Wall Mounted Wine Rack Tips

without comments

If  you have always wanted a Wall Mounted Wine Rack then you might want to consider  build your own. If you are handy this can be an easy job to do.

You can make a wall mounted wine rack easily by using an old  kitchen cabinet. Purchase an one cabinet at a garage sale or perhaps use your  own old cabinet if you have one.

Simple  Steps to Creating Your Own Wall Mounted Wine Rack:

* Take the door off of the cabinet. It’s important that you take any  brackets as well as the shelves out of the cabinet.

* You will need to measure the height of the cabinet to determine how  many shelves it should have.

* Using a saw and a 1×6 board, cut shelves for your Wall Mounted Wine  Rack. You will need to make a front and back for each shelf.

* To create the neck holders you will need to drill 1″ holes in  the center of the board. You will need to determine how many wine bottles will  fit across the width of your cabinet.

* You need to repeat step 4 for the rear shelves. This time use a  4″ hole cutter. These shelves will go in the back of your rack.

* You can finish the shelves and cabinet by using a paint  and liquor.

* When your paint and stain is dry, then it is the time for you  to assemble the mounted wine rack.  To  mount the shelves in the front and in the back, you can use the brackets of  your cabinet.

* Once everything is in place you will be able to mount your wine rack  on the wall.

Pick  your favorite bottles of wine to display in your masterpiece! Your friends will  be impressed with your craftsmanship and you will feel proud of yourself! Perhaps you want to  celebrate it by drinking your syrah wine.

Perhaps people will  start asking you how you created such a good wine rack out of an old cabinet. Who would think a new wine glass racks was actually made from  kitchen cabinet?

How to Make a Gift Basket

without comments

There aren’t many people who don’t enjoy receiving a gift now and again. But making your own, whether for business or personal enjoyment is greatly satisfying. Making your own gift basket is a great way of using up your creative juices. All your craftmaking skills are brought to bear. If you have never made your own gifts it can be quite confusing knowing where to start. Rest assured, it’s easy!  Some choices you can have include a gift basket of wine and gift basket of chocolate.

First, choose a theme. There really aren’t any strict rules on what theme this can be. Have a family member who’s an avid reader? A perfect gift basket will possibly be a gift basket full of books and accessories such as a book light. Add a piece of chocolate to hold them through their period of relaxation. For chess enthusiasts you can make them a wonderful gift basket. Think of stuffing a gift basket with a miniature magnetized set and arranging the pieces in an interesting pattern.

Then get get started on the design. Sketch out, on paper or just in your mind, what you’ll need to execute your gift basket idea. A list of all the materials you’ll need is also necessary along with the tools and sizes. Now that you have your list you can begin shopping for all that you need. This can be a lot of fun and it needn’t be a chore.

You’ll need a basket, of course. Essentially, you can buy anything that takes your fancy as long as it’s big enough to hold everything you wish to inlcude - a traditional wicker container, an antique coffee can, an ancient toy bucket or a contemporary planter. Try to find something that complements your theme.

OK, so you’ve picked out the gifts and the basket, now you’ll want to wrap it all up. Cellophane is one excellent choice. Waxpaper works well, too, because it’s flexible and teases the recipient. They can see enough to be intrigued, but can’t clearly make out what the gifts are.
