Gift Baskets Make Unique Holiday Gift Solutions

without comments

Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s Eve are right around the corner, so it’s a good idea to begin planning your gift list now. That’s especially true if you have a big family, or a lot of friends and/or clients to buy for. It’s also important if you’re like me and have a significant other who’s picky. It took a while but I eventually discovered that Italian gift baskets do the trick for him. He gets a nice assortment of things and I get to give a spectacular-looking gift that doesn’t cost that much. And I don’t even have to pick it up from the store, so it works for both of us. As a result, I’ve actually become a bit of a gift basket freak. The people in my life have come to expect them from me when I give them a present. And my friends tell me they look forward to getting them, so that lets me know I’m on the right track.

The good thing about gift baskets is that they come in so many varieties. When I want to send gifts to people who just finished moving into new houses, I usually send kosher gift baskets. Those also work well as elegant thank you gifts or when someone has finished remodeling a home. Still, there are occasions when I’m not really sure what to give, so I do a search by the person’s gender. Doing a Web search for “gift baskets for men” or the opposite usually produces a large selection of varied baskets that range from items that appeal to Baby Boomers to wine to desserts. So I usually find something I wouldn’t have thought to look for.

The only problem I have with shopping for gift baskets online is that I usually end up buying something myself! But I’ve made some great purchases that way. As a matter of fact, I’m still drinking some Parisian wines I bought in a gift basket I found while searching for a friend’s gift last month. As I write this I realized I should finish those bottles soon. I’m going to begin my Christmas shopping soon and I’m sure I’ll be buying plenty more for myself!

Giving The Gift Of Wine With Wine Baskets That You Can Take Pride In

without comments

Of all the types of gift baskets, a wine gift basket is the most elegant present to give. Wine is a gift that most people appreciated and can be given for an array of occasions. The most popular occasions though are Christmas, New Years, anniversaries, weddings and birthdays.

The most important choice in a wine basket is the wine itself. Wine comes in two varieties - red and white. Red wine is made from red and black grapes while white wine is made from white grapes. Popular red wines are cabernet sauvignon, merlot and Grenache. Red wines are usually full flavored. The chocolaty flavor of merlots makes them a very popular choice among women. Grenaches contain a slight taste of raspberries.

White wines are produced using white grapes. White wines tend to be more on the dry side combined with a fruity taste and with a hint of vanilla. Chardonnays are the most sought after white wines.

While choosing the wine, you should keep in mind the occasion for which the gift is being purchased. Many wine gift basket retailers have certain wines that fit certain occasions, such as Valentines, Christmas or New Years. Also, for who you buy wine for should play a factor in making the wine choice. When you buy wine for a person knowledgeable in wine, you would want to find wine that are more rare or unusual. However, for a beginner, almost any wine choice could do.

After choosing the wine, the next step is to decide on the other items that you will include in the basket. Food is a common accessory. However, food choices should be made with the type of wine and the preferences of the receiver in mind. Some foods go better with one type of wine than others. Common food selections are sesame crackers, cheeses, chocolates, nuts, fruits and olives. Be sure to consult a wine and food pairing chart to ensure the correct food choice for the wine that has been chosen.

A common accessory included in many gift baskets is the wine glass. Wine glasses are almost as particular as the wine itself. The type of wine chosen will determine the type of glass in which the wine is served. Red wines are served in glasses with shorter stems and larger bowls. White wines are served in long stemmed glasses with small bowls. Champagne is served in fluted glasses.

It is not unusual for other items to be included in wine gift baskets. These other items can be determined by the occasion and the recipient. For example, a beginning enthusiast may enjoy some good literature on choosing a wine. Alternatively, a basket given for an anniversary may include some spa products so that it has a more romantic feel.
