without comments

If you’re searching for some well-known champagne brands make yourself comfy and continue reading more. We’ve gathered relevant info about traditional champagne brands and the most expensive champagne.

For those who don’t know, Champagne is a region near Reims, France, where the noble drink is been produced. Here, several hundreds of years ago, the Benedictine monk, Dom Perignon had an important role in the development of the sparkling wine. Today, Dom Perignon is one of the most best-known houses of champagne and it became renowned only after the First World War when Moet and Chandon launched it on the market as a newborn vintage champagne. Moet was among the first suppliers for the aristocrats. It supplied champagne for Queen Elizabeth II and Napoleon I.

Bollinger is another major champagne house popular for its Blanc de noirs vintage wine. The brand became famous after the campaign set by a lady named Lilly Bollinger. Her mission was to make this champagne brand popular.

Krug is an illustrious champagne brand ranked alongside Dom Perignon among the crown jewels with their refined Grande Cuvee. It has a very characteristic savor because it’s a dry complete barrel fermentation wine.

The most expensive champagne in the world was a Piper-Heidsieck. Every morning Marilyn Monroe would drink a glass of this particular champagne house. The Shipwrecked 1907 Heidsieck sold at $275,000 per bottle became the most expensive champagne.

The oldest champagne ever opened was a Perrier-Jout (vintage 1825). It was tasted and opened two years ago, back in 2009. This famed brand produces a little over 3 million bottles per year. The production is just a bit smaller from the 3.2 million bottles per year produced by Louis Roederer, which is another important champagne brand that makes mostly non-vintage champagne made of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Among other great brands from the region of Champagne are Gosset, Duval Leroy, Taittinger, Henriot, Pol Roger. However, today champagne is produced in other areas of the world too, only it’s not legal to brand it “Champagne”, yet they use the same method of making it. 5 great tips for the perfect cup of tea

without comments

A cup of tea with a gratifying scent and invigorating flavor mesmerizes all people mostly tea lovers. The history of tea starts from China. Many years back tea was invented by a Chinese Emperor named Shen Nung. This idea stumbled his mind when dry tea leaves blew in his cup of boiled water. Chinese Buddhists took tea in Japan and that’s where it all started. Then tea was introduced in India, America, Europe, and to many other countries all over the world. It is now a beverage that is renowned and the most drank drink across the world.

Green tea, black tea, and white or oolong are three typically well-known teas. The leaves that are used for producing teas are from a plant generally known as Camillia sinensis. Offering a cup of tea to a visitor has now become customary. Right after dinner, a lot of people in the world like to take tea. Blending a perfect cup has been a hot issue for many years. It is observed that only those people who are in a habit of drinking tea can make it better, as opposed to those who don’t. This posting has 5 of possibly the most important recommendations that can surely help anyone to blend a perfect cup of tea.

1. First is the pot from which the tea will be made. Pots aside from porcelain and stain less steel can affect the flavor of tea.

2. Use fresh water when making tea. Fresh water that is free of additives and impurities for instance chlorine is always best for tea. Additives and impurities can really alter the real taste of tea. Plain tap water can also be used if fresh spring water is not available. Wait for fresh and cold water to come after running the faucet for a while. Boil this water.

3. Typically in sub continents, tea leaves are added to boiling water. But for the better aroma and taste, add tea leaves first to the pot and then fill with hot boiling water next. At that time, let it stay for 4 to 5 minutes or so, to get a better taste. Make sure not to overbrew for it stains the water right after..

4. Next, the key point comes. Most of the people say that pour the tea water first to the cups and then add milk to preserve the ratio. But the truth is, from the scientific point of view, milk should be added first. Experts from the UK Royal Society of Chemistry has uncovered that adding milk to tea water increases the temperature of milk hence denaturizes milk proteins which are dangerous for health. Adding milk first, it allows water temparature to cool down.

5. Sugar is mixed last. Ideally, tea should be taken without sugar at all. As minimizing sugar in your diet is good for your health and keeps the dentist away.

After all that, your perfect cup of tea is ready to serve. Tea has some beneficial benefits to health in the ways that it can reduce the chance of heart diseases, cancer, and high blood. It also helps in preventing bad breath and viral infections.

Want a great mug of leaf tea then I always make sure the tea bag is left in the mug for about 5 minutes, remove, let it cool and then add a splash of milk.

Green Tea Can Be Beneficial To Your Health

without comments

Internationally where lots of diseases emerge each year, it is common for people to think of their health. This is the reason why many businesses are producing products that have potential health advantages for the consuming public. One of most promoted products today are health drinks that were derived from plants with soothing properties such as tea.

Tea itself is regarded a health drink especially for the Chinese who have employed it for its medicinal advantages roughly 4,000 years ago. In some other countries where there is cold climate, tea is an increasingly popular drink with water. Essentially, tea has four types: the black tea, the oolong tea, the green tea, and the white tea. Each of which is said to have advantages that can assist the general well-being of a person.

Green tea’s secret

But among all these types, green tea sticks out because many health drinks, beauty goods, and even food use it. Specialists say that the idea need for green tea is as it is rich catechin polyphenols—more specifically in “epigallocatechin gallate” or EGCG, which is a very powerful anti-oxidant.

Coming from the leaves of the plant called “camellia sinensis,” experts say that green tea is regarded are superior among the rest as it processed in the very different way. Not like other types of teas, that are obtained from fermented leaves, the leaves of green tea are steamed. This is to make sure that the EGCG will not be oxidized unlike in the fermentation process where the EGCG are converted into other forms intricate chemical compounds.

Healthy benefits

One or more of the reasons why people use healthy drinks and products that are derived from green tea is to keep up a nourishing body that is faraway from diseases or sicknesses.

Since green tea is thought to be the healthiest among other sorts of teas, people consume it to veer far from certain conditions or to cure existing health conditions like cancer, rheumatism, high cholesterol levels, cariovascular diseases, infections, tooth decay, and various impaired immune functions as well as help individuals to lose weight.

More and more individuals who are in danger with cancer and even people who are already suffering from the complaint are utilizing green tea as a health drink because of its high EGCG content. Experts considered that EGCG could inhibit the increase of cancer cells in your body by killing the cells without causing harm to other cells and tissues.

Many companies likewise use green tea in their products because EGCG itself can lower LDL cholesterol levels while inhibits “thrombosis,” the abnormal formation of blood clots in the body that are major causes cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and stroke.

In the field of slimming down, more and more people are using green tea as a health drink as it is considered that the extract from the green tea is able to use-up more calories when equated with placebo or caffeine. For those who have dental matters like tooth decay, green tea can also help avoid this because it incorporates bacterias-destroying properties that kills the bacterium in plaque.

Although green tea has a few proven advantages to individuals who use it as a health drink, experts still warn that it should be used without excess. This is because green tea still comprises caffeine, which can cause insomnia attacks to people who have low caffeine tolerance.

When talking about health drinks, don’t forget about water! Having a good berkey water filter is one of the best investments that you can make, along with the Big Berkey Water Filter and even the Travel Berkey Water Filter.

Faham Orchids, Faham Tea

without comments

Orchids are among the natural world’s most stunning objects. For many among us, they bring happiness simply by their presence in our houses or our gardens. Nevertheless it must be conceded that aside from their loveliness, orchids have little practical value for human beings, with the singular exception of that estimable orchid that give us our vanilla flavoring.

If you had lived 80 to a hundred years ago, though, you might have had the chance to sip a delicious tea made from the leaves of one of a rare orchid. This drink — called Faham tea — achieved some popularity in France in the early 20th century. It was made from the pungent leaves of the Angraecum fragrans orchid (sometimes alternately recorded as the Jumella fragrans).

The rare orchid was native to the Isle de Reunion off the coast of Africa. An epiphytal species known to the locals as “faham,” the indigenous people of Reunion are said to have been the first to discover how tasty it was when made into a tea.

An article in a horticultual journal of 1924 noted that Faham tea had been introduced into France, where some people were drinking it as a substitute for “Chinese” (i.e., regular) tea. “Every work on botany of any importance similarly places it in the foremost rank of the beneficial productions of  this favored clime (Reunion),” the writer says. “One of our most illustrious writers George Sand eulogizes it in the midst of the fine description of the Island of Bourbon.” Bourbon was the previous name for Reunion, by the way.

The orchid in question was known to grow high on the slopes of Reunion, in the midst of almost inaccessible forests. The problems inherent in gathering a large supply of the plant meant that Faham tea, as a commercially viable product, was doomed to failure. Despite general agreement as to the tea’s tastiness, it was completely forgotten by mid- 20th century.

Most of us will never know what Faham tea tasted like. But if you happen to be fortunate enough to have a specimen or two of the necessary orchid, you could sacrifice a few leaves and make some yourself. To brew the tea, you first bring water to a boil in a tea kettle. Then you add some dried orchid leaves (about as much per cup as you would regular tea) to the water, turning off the heat and allowing it to steep for three or four minutes.

A circular advertising from the 1920s advertising Faham tea says:

It can be used as a substitute for tea on all occasions as it combines its tonic and digestive qualities free from the sleepless effect. It possesses an aroma of great delicacy capable of being rendered more or less pungent according to the quantity used and it gives forth a most agreeable perfume. After being drank it leaves a lasting fragrance in the mouth and in a closed room the odor of it can be recognized long after.

This beverage has the further advantage over tea which requires to be drank at the time of making in that it can be reserved for a future occasion if requisite and may either be taken cold or made hot again. Milk or spirits in small quantities, especially rum, serve to develope its aroma and lending it additional delicacy or greater strength render it a delicious drink. Lastly this valuable plant is made use of to flavor custards and ices to which it communicates its delicate fragrance.

Sounds delicious. Faham tea, anyone?

Green Tea

without comments

The Healing Tea

Scientists have discovered that green tea can be helpful for many medical purposes. This healthful tea has been around for thousands of years, and today it is popular all over the world. Some scientists say that green tea can reduce the risk of esophageal and colon cancer by almost sixty percent. Through research scientists have discovered that green tea can be a great help for high cholesterol, infection, and even weight loss. But what makes this tea so spectacular? Certain properties in green tea enable it to attack and kill cancer cells. Besides, green tea is high in EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), a powerful anti-oxidant that can help protect your skin against UV rays.

What Makes Green Tea Different?

Green tea comes from the plant (Camellia sinensis), the same plant from which normal black tea is made. The main difference is that green tea goes through minimal oxidation while processing, giving it a much lighter color than regular black tea. Green tea comes in a variety of flavors, and is usually not served with any type of cream or sugar. Another special quality that green tea possesses is that it can increase metabolism, which aids weight loss and lowering cholesterol. The way green tea is harvested also makes a difference. It is harvested usually in early spring and is done by hand, and then dried. The Chinese used to steam the tea to stop fermentation, but today most it is done by roasting.

History of Green Tea

Green tea has been around for approximately 5,000 years, but the story of its origin is unclear. Some say that the emperor Shen Nung discovered the plant when a leaf fell into his cup. But another story says that a man by the name of Shien Non Shei found the plant and tasted it, discovering that it was in fact, delicious, and decided upon making a beverage out of it. But whatever its origin, the Chinese have been drinking green tea for thousands of years. In ancient China, Green tea was the drink of the wealthy and political leaders, because it was a costly drink.  But as time passed, the drink was more widely spread among the people of China and Japan.

Green tea was introduced into the US by Europeans involved in the tea trade from Asia. And grew rapidly in popularity, making tea a very important part of the trade market in the new world.

Side Effects

Green tea has only one side effect, due to its amount of caffeine; however, green tea actually contains less caffeine than some other teas and coffees. But some people are sensitive to caffeine, and may experience insomnia, or other side effects involved in excess of caffeine. But the amount you drink is sometimes a question for scientists. A study by the Saitama Cancer Research Institute in Japan, discovered that there were fewer cases of breast cancer in woman who drank five or more cups daily. Another study discovered that drinking at least four cups a day, can help prevent some types of arthritis, and can also reduce the symptoms in patience who already have arthritis. Some people might say that green tea is a natural healer, but further research is still needed to prove the point!
