Planning Your Kid’s First Birthday Party? Here’s How!

without comments

When it’s time to plan for your baby’s 1st birthday party, you may be a little confused and overwhelmed, especially if it’s your first child and you’ve never thrown a kid’s birthday party before. Which theme for the party? Where should I have the party/ Where is the best place to get first birthday party supplies? Who should be invited? How long should the party take? What will you serve?

It’s perfectly natural if you don’t know exactly what to do for your baby’s 1st birthday. Older kids’ birthday parties are full of friends, fun games, and party favors, and they can go on for hours. Babies don’t know what’s going on at their birthday parties–they won’t remember them.Party supplies for babies are slightly different than the supplies and decorations for an older child’s party also.

A baby’s first birthday party is really for the adults who love him or her. So much has been packed into that first year of your baby’s life and their 1st birthday is the time for everyone to come together and celebrate the baby’s birth and everything he or she has achieved in just one year. The party planning might include some crafts and games that you won’t usually find at older kids’ birthdays.

For instance, you might want to include getting poster-board and PostIt notes on your list of 1st birthday party plans. Tape photos of your child’s milestones on the poster-board, such as the day he or she came home from the hospital, their first check-up, first tooth, first steps, and ask your guests to write what dates they think the pictures were taken.

Still, birthday party supplies should also include many of the traditional party items, such as invitations and Thank You notes, tableware (plates, cups, forks, napkins), balloons, ribbons, and crepe paper. When it comes to 1st birthday party supplies though, you may not want to use typical balloons that can be popped and break into pieces that pose a choking hazard for the baby. Mylar balloons don’t break when punctured, thus they are perfect for a safe first bithday party.

The guest list for your baby’s 1st birthday party might include a couple other babies, but most of the guests will be adults, like the baby’s grandparents, aunts and uncles, and close friends of the family. If you do invite other babies, you should limit yourself to inviting only 2 to 3. Then do you choose  a neutral theme or choose a boy’s or girl’s 1st birthday party theme . Considering other guests while making this decision is vital.

For a baby’s birthday party, you may only have 1½  or 2 hours before the baby gets overstimulated and cranky. It is not necessary to include a meal, but finger foods should usually be on your list of party supplies. You ought to try to schedule your party around your baby’s normal nap schedule. Consider starting the party during your baby’s nap and doing the games while he or she is napping if you’re planning party games for adult guests.
